"I will not follow where the path may lead, but I will go where there is no path, and I will leave a trail." (quote by Muriel Strode, 1903).
Set inside the body of a lovely oak dovetailed box, from the early 1900's, to which vintage wooden game counters have been added, as little legs. To the top, there is a single enamelled vintage metal leaf, circa mid 1900's.
The words to Muriel Strode's quote are printed on vintage paper around the outside edge. The inside is backed with the most gloriously embroidered miniature woodland scene, and the sides lined with 1930's rayon ribbon. The tiniest 1930's lead painted squirrel is about to dart in to the woodland, and next to him are a pair of bluebells, sculpted from wire and painted.
The whole storybox measures 17.5cm high including top foliage, 9cm wide, and 6cm deep. All sculptures are made from repurposed vintage and antique items, and, as such, may show evidence of being timeworn.
