I come from the moorland in Yorkshire by the coastal town of Whitby, and the sea and seafood is important to all of us who live there. It brings life into our town and so much local history is based on it.

I started this piece of work wanting to explore and enjoy the nature of the sea and it grew into something deeply atmospheric for me. I found myself lost in the French knots creating the breaking waves around the lighthouse and the tiny seed stitches used to show the light emanating from it. Even the short stitches that created the fishermen found their way into the work by themselves without thought or planning.

There is a huge level of detail in this shade, one that will keep on sharing little new elements with you the more you look and enjoy it. The lining is a mirrored gold which gives a stunning warm glow when lit, and creates a lighthouse effect all by itself.

Every element of my work is hand stitched over hours and is not replicated.

Measures 20cm in diameter, 27 cm in height (size of embroidered artwork before rolling 68 x 30 cm).

Delivered in 5 working days in the UK. For international shipping, please select the option above and allow 14 days.
