A Teal vase made in a free style "Waterfall" design from Rowena Gilbert's Water Wonders series.
This small vase is water tight on the inside for fresh flower display.
The vase shape is originally turned in wood and a plaster mould is made from the wooden model. Fine clay slips are poured in and out of the mould to produce the body of the vase. Coloured clay decorating slips are brushed and dripped on in layers on the leather hard clay body. After bisque firing, the vase is glazed on the inside and then fired again to 1180°C with an hour long soak at the top temperature.
All pieces are individually hand made by Rowena in her Brighton studio and have her signature mark on the base.
The interior has been glazed with a lead-free transparent gloss. The matt outside surface can be cleaned with a soapy sponge and hot water.
Size: height 11.5cm, width: 5cm at the bottom, decreasing to 4cm at the top.
