If you like your artwork a little naughty, but in a fun, “Carry on” movie way, then this is for you!
It’s a beautiful hanging 1930’s toffee tin, in a wonderful orangey-red, which I have hand-cut with a keyhole shape!
The circa 1900 governess educational card letters read “Turn me on & Take a peep” …… of course meaning for you to flick the on/off switch you can see at the top! When you do turn it on, it illuminates inside, to reveal a scantily clad young lady, in a state of undress!!!! (How naughty!) When illuminated, it is best viewed in dim light, for obvious reasons!
The young lady is an appliqué and embroidery, c.1940’s/50’s, and above her I have sculpted the phrase “oh la la” out of wire. It is illuminated via a battery, which is easy to change, when the battery runs out, and comes complete with battery and ready to hang.
This storybox measures approximately 30.5cm x 15.5cm, not including the vintage chain it hangs from.
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
