Beautifully marked Spalted Beech hollow form 90mm diameter x 70mm high, turned by hand from locally sourced wood selected by Mark in Dorset.
Spalting is where natural spores enter the wood after the tree is felled. These spores create unique and individual markings and colours within the wood that stabilise after the wood has dried.
The form is turned by Mark from a part seasoned section of the beech wood specifically cut for maximum visual effect. It is then turned to a thin wall and allowed to slowly dry and move naturally producing a beautiful organic and unique one off piece.
Finally Mark finishes the form by buffing and applying a microcrystalline wax designed to resistant finger prints producing a long lasting lustre. This piece is a one off due to the unique markings and can not be replicated.
