These Moon Jars are hand thrown on the wheel using porcelain and raku clay mix to aid the thermal shock during the firing process.
They are decorated with a Copper Wash solution and fired in a raku kiln and then sawdust is added. The rims and foot rings are terra sigillata (a fine-grained clay slip) which blackens by the burning sawdust.
The rim and foot ring are then polished to give contrast to the body.
Each firing creates a unique pot. They are approximately 12cm tall.
