I have a huge collection of vintage embroideries which I treasure for their quirkiness and hand made quality. I've decided to try and transform some of these textiles by using them in a range of print making processes.
This is one of a series of prints taken from this small embroidered mat. The print is a negative taken from a printing plate and shows up so much amazing detail of individual threads. It's almost like an x-ray.
The printing ink is full-bleed to the edges of the paper with a textured sepia background and the very detailed image printed of the mat. Signed, numbered (1/1) and dated 2017.
Paper size: 19.5 x 24.5cm.
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
