Produced from oak and recycled paper, this Paperoak ð object combines hundreds of pages, layered and compressed. Lathe turned using traditional wood working techniques, a beautiful wood grain can be seen from both the oak and paper, produced from the text.
The shape of the character Eth (ð) is reminiscent of the pieces in this collection. An Old English letter of unknown origins, perhaps from the flourish of an Irish monks scribe, used in Faroese and Icelandic, it symbolises the centuries of words layered in this work.
Please note as with wood, the paper may move slightly in different room temperatures. This is normal and part of the materials natural movement.
Each object has a protective varnish coating and can be wiped with a damp cloth to clean. Do not put in direct sunlight.
This sculptural piece measures 6cm diameter x 14cm high.
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
