Cotton, wool and viscose threads are used on heavy wool cloth to create this dramatic textile picture based on drawings from a road trip from the Netherlands down to Italy.
I drew hastily as the car wound around the curving tracks, every few moments the dramatic vista changed completely - adding pleasure, pressure and adrenaline to the process.
The vitality of the drawings is captured in my approach to free hand embroidery stitch: It need not be static and twee, but lively, spontaneous and energising.
This piece is sold unframed, but is mounted on white core, archival mount board and measures 30 x 40 cm.
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
