This joyful little celebration of love contains two vintage painted lead penguin toy figures, circa 1930’s. They are standing on a piece of "ice", which is actually Devon sea glass. The inside of the lid is a fragment of stripy vintage quilt, which I have hand-embroidered with snowflakes.
The words are sculpted from wire, or typed on to fabric. The background behind the penguins is a fragment of antique Victorian cream silk bedcover circa mid to late 1800's, which I have hand-painted in ombre style, as a graduating skyline.
The inside edges are lined with blue silk from a 1930's belt. The heart is a bead from a 1950's necklace. It is all set within a small square vintage hinged tin from the 1920’s/30’s.
When open: 16.5cm x 8.5cm x 2.25cm max. This item is made from various repurposed antique and vintage items which may show signs of being timeworn. This is part of the design.
