These contemporary perspex earrings were inspired by looking at palm trees on my holidays! I love the way the leaves show up against the dark background, the surface pattern was created using individual conifer leaves. They are collected, dried and pressed then used to emboss the surface.
I use my own method of dying and embossing 100% recycled acrylic, which I call 'fossilized plastic' due to the fine details, like fossils, that are captured on the embossed surface. The colours are applied around the leaves like stencils, making each component individual. I harness nature to create original pieces, which are a memory of each individual skeleton leaf.
These green earrings really catch the light and I have been told attract a lot of attention!
They measure 12mm x 65mm and the length from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the earring is 90mm. The ear wires are made from sterling silver.
