This skeleton leaf perspex cuff is made using the skeleton leaves from a rubber tree. I collect, dry and press the leaves and then heat the acrylic and press the leaves into the surface. I then use them like a stencil to apply the colours. The skeleton leaf is peeled off to reveal the design. This is a method of dying and embossing plastic I developed myself. I call it 'Fossilized Plastic' due to the fine detail captured on the embossed surface, as though similar to fossils.
I choose quite ordinary plants and weeds to create my designs. I hope that the wearer will not only enjoy them as jewellery but also review their appreciation of the natural world.
This cuff is 45mm wide and is made from 100% recycled acrylic.
Small are 15-16cm with a 25mm gap, Medium are 16.5-18cm with a 28mm gap and the Large are 18.5-20cm with a 35mm gap.
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
