A perfect autumn bangle! This skeleton leaf perspex cuff is made using the skeleton leaves from a rubber tree. I collect, dry and press the leaves and then heat the acrylic and press the leaves into the surface. I then use them like a stencil to apply the colours. The skeleton leaf is then peeled off to reveal the design. This is a method of dying and embossing plastic I developed myself. I call it Fossilized Plastic due to the fine detail which it is possible to capture on the embossed surface so they are similar to fossils.
I choose quite ordinary plants and weeds to create my designs. I hope that the wearer will not only enjoy them as jewellery but also review their appreciation of the natural world.
These 100% recycled acrylic bangles are 25mm wide. Available in 3 sizes: Small are 15-16cm with a 25mm gap, Medium are 16.5-18cm with a 28mm gap and the Large are 18.5-20cm with a 35mm gap.
