This handmade acrylic bangle or cuff is made using Whitebeam leaves from a tree which has since been cut down. I collect, dry and press the leaves, then heat the acrylic and press the leaves into the surface. I then use them like a stencil to apply the colours. This is a method of dying and embossing plastic I developed myself. I call it Fossilized Plastic due to the fine detail which it is possible to capture on the embossed surface, so they are similar to fossils.
I harness nature to create original pieces. They are a memory of each individual Whitebeam leaf.
Handmade by Sue Gregor in the UK using 100% recycled acrylic. This cuff measures 190mm x 5mm x 45mm and fits most wrists.
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
