A slab built porcelain plate with delicate lace impression lovingly broken and re-assembled!
This work marks the beginning of experimentations into the Japanese method of 'Kintsugi'; the art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold.
This plate is an experiment and does not yet follow the traditional method; the piece has been glued together and once dry, liquid gold leaf is painted onto the visible glue. It is finished with a thin cork backing, to hide any unsightly glued areas, and to softly cushion the surface underneath.
PLEASE NOTE: This plate is not food safe.
The plate measures 21cm in diameter and 0.5cm in height.
