Flamed Oak Dish

A very pretty wooden dish handmade from a super dense piece of oak crotch. This is the union between two branches where high pressures, caused by the weight put through this potential weak point, triggers overgrowth to strengthen the area. This generates the beautiful flame figuring.

This piece is from Bovey Tracey in Devon and was removed at the end of life, before becoming a risk in a public area. It was then dried and hand turned.

It's been finished with 3 coats of Danish oil and protected with micro crystalline wax (it doesn’t melt like bees wax when handled - so doesn’t get easily marked).

This wooden dish is 125mm diameter and 40mm high.

** Proceeds from sales of Adam's work fund his son cyclist Ben Cornish’s journey toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He also became the u19 National Champion - his 3rd consecutive national title.
