A hand made original woodcut print. Edition of 23.
My work responds to the love of my surroundings, nature, intricate details noticed and moments captured. The rich colours in this print are inspired by my local landscape, wild moorland, abundant hedgerows, rolling hills and vast skies.
A 4 layer reduction woodcut print, hand carved into a wooden block and printed by hand so each print in the edition will vary slightly and is unique work of art. The paper used is Somerset Printmaking paper 300gsm and the ink used is Intaglio oil based ink. Signed and editioned in pencil.
Reduction woodcut is a method of block printing. Working in layers, I ink and print the block many times to achieve the layers of depth and rich colour.
More wood is carved from the block for each layer and each colour is printed on top of the last. This means that an entire edition must be printed in one go – once you have carved into the block for the next layer, you can’t go back to print more.
Print size: 15 x 15 cm. Presented on an off white mount 28 x 28 cm ready to be framed. Frame not included.
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
