A beautifully turned oak bowl with rich grain patterns made from timber that would have otherwise been overlooked and discarded.
This one of a kind bowl has been handmade from rare brown oak, created by fungal attack, which if not dried at the right time dissolves - decaying and becoming unusable.
The wood was found in Bovey Tracey in Devon and removed at the end of life, before becoming a risk in a public area. It was then dried, preserved and hand turned.
Celebrating the exquisite markings, the bowl has been hand finished with 3 coats of Danish oil and protected with micro crystalline wax (it doesn’t melt like bees wax when handled - so doesn’t get easily marked).
The bowl is 170mm diameter x 80mm high.

Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
