Black & White Blades of Grass Domed Circle Stitched Necklace

The design on this necklace was created using blades of grass to create the stripes. I collected them from a bank ground near me, then dried and pressed them. Then they were used like stencils to create the design on the 100% recycled Perspex, hand stiched with pure silk thread and a solid silver clasp.

My unusual plant jewellery is created by collecting, drying and pressing the unique, individual leaves. I then use them like a stencil to apply the colours. The leaves are peeled off to reveal the beautiful, colourful design. This is a method of dyeing and embossing plastic jewellery I developed myself. I call it 'Fossilised Plastic' due to the fine detail that's captured on the embossed surface - so they are similar to fossils.

All the acrylic I use is made from 100% recycled materials. It is also free from volatile organic compounds and hydrofluorocarbon making it more environmentally friendly.

This necklace measures 19 inches (48 cm) in total length.
