I spend a lot of time observing the fennel seed heads I grow, admiring their beauty, marvelling at the intricate details and the transient nature as they change over the seasons. Photos of the flower heads were taken before creating their solar plates, aiming to capture the plants essence.
The luscious sepia / gold tones are created through hand inking each printing plate, experimenting with how the ink interacts with the images.
This print is 35.7cm x 25cm and is unmounted and unframed.
The paper used is Hahnemuhle paper using non-toxic, quality inks. Numbered and signed in pencil. With my solar plate prints, each print is individually pulled from hand mixed colours. It is a method which is both beautiful and unpredictable, adding character to each unique design.
