A framed embroidered artwork based on the landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Sandsend is a small fishing village, near Whitby, where we holiday with our children and is a place of peace and tranquility for me. In five minutes you're in the moors, it's heaven to me. This a view taken from memory and thinking of those waves calming down after a storm has hit, when calm is returning.
I've used silk, barkcloth, wool and linen fabrics to block in swathes of colour. I've then picked out embroidered details with darning threads, pearls, cottons and embroidery silks to create structure and depth, concentrating on the sky and its movement in the moment.
The artwork size is 15cm x 15cm and it arrives beautifully presented in a hand painted glazed frame (24cm x 24cm).
