"A Change is Gonna Come" Brush Sculpture consists of a beautiful antique natural bristle, porcelain based shaving brush (circa 1920’s) which is upturned and reimagined as long grass.
Adorned with sculpted bullrushes and long leaves, crafted from wire and clay, which are hand-painted. Amongst these is darting a beautiful, tiny dragonfly made from wire and painted.
To the base the words “A change is gonna come”, are stamped on to light blue vintage leather. These are lyrics from the song of the same name, by Sam Cooke.
It measures approximately 14cm tall.
Made from repurposed vintage and antique objects, and as such, my show signs of being timeworn.
