I am a self taught hand weaver and textile designer living in North Cornwall. It is here in this rugged and often windswept landscape that I create colourful, hand woven cloth which is transformed into scarves and cushions.
My studio overlooks the cliffs and sea and this is a constant reminder of the inspiration that surrounds me. I find the process from choosing the colours, working out the measurements, warping, dressing the loom, weaving and finishing very therapeutic.
I like to work organically adding random bursts of shocking pink next to a burnt orange to create interest or a natural oatmeal with a mustard yellow to soften the colours. Because of this, my pieces are unique.
In September 2018 my weaving journey will continue when I join Falmouth University as a second year student specialising in Weave.
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
