Su France

Su lives in a rural environment, on a working farm, where her studio sits within fields, near to woodlands. Her practice is rooted & grounded on an engagement with life cycles, natural form, seascapes, and broken coastlines, having sustainability at its heart. She seeks out the often-overlooked unique details, spending time to collect, curate, prepare & press, long before committing to print. Su employs a range of techniques; collagraph, solar plate, intaglio and monoprint within her work, experimenting with debossing to add depth. Her unique prints form tangible links, incorporating elements that are meaningful to herself & others, combining this with the unpredictability of printmaking. Her work evokes a sense of calm, a link to beautiful moments in nature. She is positioning herself as an ethical choice within her artwork, business & the environment. In 2022, Su gained a prestigious grant award from Arts Council England to develop this within her creative practice. Su also is a member of the Visual Artists’ Association.

In 2023, Su presented her first solo exhibition, showcasing her prints at the Gunning Press Gallery, Ironbridge. Gunning are the people who made her printing press and are internationally renowned. She also exhibited as part of a joint show, ‘Kindred’, alongside like-minded artists, in Stamford, Lincolnshire.

Her work is available in galleries, and she exhibits nationally, as well as during open studios at her home. She also sells through art fairs throughout the year. Su has sold nationally and internationally.
