Marie Canning graduated from Manchester School of Art in 2012 with a 1st class BA (hons) in Three Dimensional Design. After a ceramics residency at Guldagergaard International Ceramics Research Centre, Denmark in early 2013, she began exhibiting and selling porcelain jewellery, accessories and objects at reputable shows and gallery shops nationally. During this time she was selected as a participant in the Crafts Council Hothouse scheme.
More recently and inspired by her animal rights activism, she has begun making small scale porcelain nature dioramas that tell stories of the farmed and wild animals who dwell within them. Marie also makes porcelain earrings and nature and animal themed wall pieces all handmade in her woodland studio in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
