Lucy Spink works from her studio in Cornwall and hand makes all her jewellery using traditional techniques and her Grandfather's old workshop tools. The hands on approach means her work feels organic, allowing marks made during the process to remain as an integral part of the surface and giving the owner a glimpse of how each piece has been formed. Hand beating gives texture to the silver and gold so that they catch the light, ensuring that each piece of jewellery has its own identity and organic form.
The use of 18ct gold represents the importance Lucy places on our connection to the natural environment we inhabit and how closely our lives were once bound to its rhythms.
"My aim is to create jewellery which is easy for everyone to wear yet thought provoking in the message it carries. As someone who walks in the countryside and sees the changes in the seasons at close quarters, I want to remind people that our natural environment is precious. Now more so then ever, we need to think carefully about our place in the world. My design and style has been born out of my love for the rhythm of nature and our deep ties to our landscapes."
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
