Clare Collinson

I design and make jewellery in my tiny studio in Colwinston, South Wales.

Inspiration for my work is drawn from illustrations, lino prints and the many doodles and drawings that I have collected in my sketchbooks.

As a little girl, I loved being read bedtime stories and my favourite books were those that had been passed down and read so many times that the pages were tatty and worn.

Working predominantly in silver, printed papers and resin, every piece of jewellery is individually hand crafted and therefore unique.

Sterling silver is formed using traditional silversmithing techniques. Paper is refound, drawn, or block printed on before being set into the silver jewellery using embedding resin.

I choose paper, which has slight marks or mottling, this gives each piece a slightly aged and vintage feel. The wearer can then create a story or fairytale of their own…
