With inspiration gathered from people-watching, old wives tales and observations of what’s around me, I combine drawing, painting and printmaking to build narrative on the surface of decorative hand built ceramics. Fingerprints, brush strokes and making marks are intentionally left exposed to accentuate the relationship between vessel and subject.
I initially studied Textile and Surface Design at Gray’s School of Art in 2010, before going on to study for a Masters in Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art in 2014. After graduating I moved from Inverness to Sheffield for the Ceramic Starter Studio at Yorkshire Artspace and have stayed put since, juggling making with work in healthcare and education.
I feel very lucky to be trusted to turn personal stories and memories into ceramic pieces to be treasured, and am always happy to discuss ideas for commissions.
Commissioning a piece of work is really exciting – it is a chance to have something made especially for you and an opportunity to really engage in the creative process.
Perhaps you need accessories to go with a particular outfit or a piece of furniture to fit a specific space in your home. We can work with you to design something truly unique. You’ll be able to discuss your ideas, likes and dislikes with the Maker and together create a piece of craft, handmade for you.
This is just a first step, so don't worry, there’ll be plenty of chances to discuss details before finalising a commission.
